Don’t leave a 3-inch spacer on a hive like I did…
Too much space between or above frames encourages bees to fill it with burr comb, disrupting inspections and damaging brood. Keeping spacing at the natural bee space of about 3/8 inch helps prevent it.
I decided to let it go and enjoy the comb honey to come.

Bearding is when bees gather outside the hive, often clinging to the entrance or landing board in a clustered formation, which is exactly what’s shown here. This behavior is normal and healthy under certain conditions and is usually not a cause for concern.

“I couldn’t agree more. But with inflation, taxes, a wife, two kids, and the housing market? I can’t afford not to work this hard.”
